About the Game

NetEnt’s version of this classic game begins with 6 decks of the standard 52-card deck not including the jokers. The cards are also shuffled before every new round of cards is dealt.
The obvious objective of the game is to get as close to the number 21 without going over. Meaning if all your cards add up to 21, or anything under, you have an opportunity to win. However, having a total of 22 or above immediately disqualifies you for the round.
If you are qualified’ for the round (meaning you have a total of 21 or under) you go up against the dealer. If the dealer has more a higher total than you, which is 21 or under, the dealer wins; if you have a higher total, you win.
There are some Blackjack strategies and lingo that players should be aware of before venturing into this game but before that, let’s quickly go through the standard rules and guidelines.
- The values of the cards are as follows: cards 2 to 10 are worth what they are. Jack, Queen and King are worth 10. And an Ace can be worth either 1 or 11, the player gets to decide how to use the Ace.
- Landing a Blackjack’ means reaching a total of 21 with an Ace Jack/Queen/King. This is the highest a player can get, and it warrants an immediate win.
- The dealer for this Blackjack variation will stand at a soft 17. What this means is when the dealer reaches a total of 17, he/she would not proceed to take any more cards. What soft 17’ means is the 17 could be made of an Ace.
- Busting/Breaking: This means the total of all of your cards has gone over 21
- Hit: This is when you would like to take another card
- Stand: This means you have decided not to take any more cards
- Face Cards/Pictures: These are cards with the value of 10 Jack, Queen, and King
- Split: This can be played when players receive 2 cards of the exact same value. The option then is to separate these 2 cards and play them into different hands, giving you higher odds of winning as the hands are played one by one.
- Double: Upon seeing the initial 2 cards dealt to you, you’ll have an opportunity to double.’ This means you are doubling your initial bet. The only downside is, you will have to stand after receiving one final card.
- Insurance: If the dealer’s open card is an Ace, you will have an option of taking insurance. This is an additional bet that can be placed, and if won, it pays twice the original bet placed. To win, the dealer needs to land a Blackjack.
